Families Can Find a Day Full of Fun

When it comes to spending quality family time together, El Campo has several options, like taking in a movie or visiting one of the city's parks, swimming, bowling, Little League or skating. Places of interest include:

Boys & Girls Club

The Boys & Girls Club on Fahrenthold Street - programs include soccer, swim lessons, competitive swimming, basketball, dancing, karate, boxing and tennis. Open to children ages 6-18. Membership is $10 per year with some activities requiring additional fees. Call 979-543-8320.

El Campo Museum of Natural History

If you've ever dreamed of taking an African safari, visiting the Arctic or seeing some of the many species of wildlife in Texas, the El Campo Museum of Natural History is your closest destination.

The museum is located inside the El Campo Civic Center, 2350 N. Mechanic. Operating hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Group tours are also available. Call 979- 543-6885 or visit www.elcampomuseum.com.

Bonnie's Barnyard

For a change of pace, you can take it easy at Bonnie's Barnyard, a nonprofit educational animal farm. Free of charge, the Barnyard includes miniature horses, donkeys, goats, miniature zebu cattle, pot bellied pigs and more. Call 543-2651. Located at West Norris and County Road 360/362.

El Campo Country Club

The El Campo Country Club, a private membership club, includes dining and a 9-hole golf course at the intersection of Sandy Corner Road and FM 1300.Call 979-543-9725.
