City, schools help ensure quality of life
The city of El Campo is a quiet place where children still can ride a bike safely and go to schools that provide a good, solid education.

El Campo High School graduates can look to the future with training in academics and practical applications. In addition to a rigorous college study track, students can enroll in one of several working trade courses at the Career and Technology Center.
With a population of about 11,000, crime remains low among the 3,931 households within the city limits.

The city maintains 56 acres of parkland for the public's enjoyment as well as a Civic Center for the hosting of official events and social gatherings.

City crews maintain 100 miles of paved roads as well as a drinking water delivery system which has received a "Superior" rating from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Additional information on the city of El Campo, City Council and services can be found at www. ci.el-campo.tx.us.

The El Campo school district has achieved an Academically Acceptable state rating, while two of its elementary schools performed well above those standards and received "Recognized" status from the Texas Education Agency.

The district recently tightened its standards in the Gifted and Talented program through all levels while also providing award-winning vocational programs at the high school.

Advanced Placement courses allow college bound students a solid preparation for their next step in education. High school seniors can enroll dually in college courses through Wharton County Junior College.

Many local students receive commendations in reading, writing and math on state tests, while nearly all local teachers are "Highly Qualified" based on federal and state standards.

The private St. Philip Catholic School, founded in 1950, provides a high-caliber education for grades K-8. It also features a preschool program.

In the past year, El Campo ISD broke ground on a new $17.6 million middle school campus. The facility should be in use by January 2008. For more on El Campo schools, please see: http:// el.tx.schoolwebpages.com.
